In 1933, it all started with a great shirt.

The Gambert name has been synonymous with fine shirt making since 1933 when First generation family patriarch, Joseph J. Gambert, opened his shop on Springfield Avenue in Newark, NJ, USA.  For over 90 years, we have been making shirts in Newark’s Ironbound section.  In the 1970s and 1980s, the family fragmented and the business diversified throughout New Jersey.  However, post-Covid, the family reunited and is now under the ownership and management of Mitch Gambert.

At the heart of our company is a commitment to the finest craftsmanship, hand producing every garment. Our Newark, New Jersey atelier serves as the foundation for a truly bespoke experience.
